Rent a fully electric, Century 840 hospital bed, with patient and user controls, and foam/air mattress, for $99 a month.

Fully electric means that all the functions are electric, unlike the plastic beds with springs that have to be raised and lowered by hand. A bed that can go really low (mattress top 23” off the floor) can be important when it comes to getting in and out of bed. And being able to raise the bed is pretty useful for the caregiver’s back. Not to mention you can see the TV better.

There are controls in the siderails that both the bed user and the caregiver can operate, which include the head, knee, and ‘elevator’. And there are lockout features at the foot of the bed. For example, if you just had leg surgery, and you don’t want the foot/knee of the bed raising up, you can disable that function as needed.

One of the nicest features of the bed is the foam/air mattress. (The air bladder is inside the foam). Normally, people try out lots of mattresses for their bed before buying one. With hospital beds, you don’t get that luxury… unless it’s an air mattress. The air mattress allows you to adjust the pressure, making the bed more or less firm, depending on what feels comfortable for your back. A hospital bed is only as comfortable as its mattress, so having an adjustable mattress can be a big plus.

If you’re only going to rent for a month, its $120, but if you rent for 2 months or more, it’s $99 for each month including the first.
